Faces

Sometimes even the kindest of faces
Can hide the darkest intent
The cost for both can be immense
But only one can emerge, the victor
From the races of the egotist

I’ll sign no contract
I’ll sign no lease
Music is my own release
I’ll hold fast
As time goes past

You might want to tempt me
You might try to hold me to it
But I’m smarter than I was as a child
Smart enough to know that I don’t want to run wild

All of you stand out here
Lost in the wilderness of all that you hold dear
Knowing the whole time that you lost something
What is it that you lost?
What is it that you lost?

Did you toss it to the side
While you put your hopes
Into this famed ride
What is it that I’ve lost
Is what all of your souls cry
You wonder why
You wonder why you signed up for this

He’s making a show out of you
He’s mocking you
He hates you like he hates all of us
We are loved the way he once was
Oh oh Oh
We are loved the way he once was
But he wanted to be king
He sought omnipotence out
Then the king of all tossed him out
He fell, he fell, he fell
Now he brings all of you down with him
And so you shall if you stay on this downward spiralling road
Spiral down away into the underground
That is where you’ll stay
In terror and in pain
But all is not in vain
There’s a way out for you
All you have to choose to follow the truth

He had beauty
He has light
He was written to
Use music to bring night
